August 2005

In August 2005 Eco-TIRAS will organize in partnership with NGOs-members three seminars in the North, Central part and South of the Dniester River basin in Moldova. These seminars are intended to raise public awareness on the concept of Integrated River Basin Management and to discuss the draft of the report of Moldavian and Ukrainian Working Groups with a common view on the current situation in the Dniester River basin and priority measures to be taken to improve it. The draft of the report should appear soon at www.dniester.org . Seminars will be organized with kind support of the Royal Embassy of Norway in Bucharest.

May 2005

In the last decade of May 2005 the ‘Eco-TIRAS’ group of five NGO leaders participated in the work of the European ECO-Forum during the 2nd Meeting of Parties of the Aarhus Convention and in the MOP itself. The group was actively involved in lobbying the amendments to the art. 6 of the Aarhus Convention, finally passed by MOP. as well as in adoption of other important documents related to use of electronic tools for public information and public participation in international forums. June 2005

In the end of June 2005 ‘Eco-TIRAS’ jointly with Polish NGO ‘The Lower Silesian Foundation for Sustainable Development’ (Wroclaw) and Moldavian NGOs ‘Habitat’ (Rezina) and ‘Pelican’ (Bender, Transdniestria) organized a study visit of 23 Moldavian farmers, NGO leaders and governmental officials to Poland. The visit helped to study the experience of Poland in development of organic agriculture, biosafety and agrotourism. The study trip was supported by RITA Program and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland. After this visit, three Working Groups on these issues were created to develop the concepts of further projects in these fields for the territory of Dniester River basin in Moldova. The group leaders are: Valeriu Rusu, Habitat (Agro-tourism), Valentin Ciubotaru, BIOS (organic agriculture) and Eco-TIRAS (Biosafety-GMO).

April 2005

From April 2005 ‘Eco-TIRAS’ participates in partnership with Polish NGO ‘The Lower Silesian Foundation for Sustainable Development’ (Wroclaw) and Moldavian NGOs ‘Habitat’ (Rezina) and ‘Pelican’ (Bender, Transdniestria) inimplementation of the project on development of organic agriculture, biosafety and agrotourism in Dniester River Basin in Moldova. The project includes the study tour for 23 Moldavians to Poland, creation of three working groups to develop three new projects in these areas, and the conference on the project subject.
